Portrait of Diana
I recently took some personal time to try out a new style and subject. I rarely do portraits, especially of females but I just finished up the full body and will post it later with the subjects permission. I am very happy with the results and hope to do more soon.

Moostache Tour Poster
Here is the concert poster I recently completed for Moostache’s “The Body Disagrees Tour”. The original was created for their album release party a couple weeks back and featured a slightly different color scheme. Concert posters are always fun because I can fully utilize my artistic style to portray the style of the band and their music. The process is both challenging and fulfilling. For this particular piece, I took elements from their album cover art and shook it up with my own spices. I also spent many hours listening to Moostache on myspace to make sure I portrayed them correctly. And even though I rarely listen to this genre, I can honestly say I enjoy their songs. Backyard Reptilians
We opened up the screen door yesterday and found this guy carelessly strummin’ along on the concrete. Good thing I’m just a friendly guy with a camera and not a red-tailed hawk.

BBQ Goodness
Not quite summer yet, but the thirst for some good ‘ol bbq has long since arrived at the household. Bobby Flay, come challenge me.

One day, text from Ben: “want to Korean BBQ?” I reply: “sure!”. I arrive home an hour later and here we go. Fresh from Zion Market. Way to deliver Ben.

Once the meat was on the grill (pan) and the aroma was adrift, taking pictures became number 10 on my to-do list, behind eat the Kalbi repeated 9 times.

Intermission. This is the last surviving soldier in our tank. Him and about 20 ghost shrimp. You cannot see them here because (1.) They are “ghost” shrimp, thus clear. (2.) The goldfish likes to eat shrimp.

BBQ #2! Now featuring jumbo shrimp grilled to perfection (notice my smooth transition using “shrimp” from the previous image).

Steaks that Junya overcooked and many many kebabs, with eggplant
.

Some playoff basketball through the screen door. What’s a great Memorial Weekend BBQ without a great game?

Junya tries to make up for the overcooked steak.

Closeup. Butter and sweet corn. Perfect combo for some sausage on a stick, just like in Taiwan.

Meet Gonzo, our backyard hummingbird King. He sits regularly at the highest tip of our tallest tree. Various female hummingbirds come by on the daily, seriously. Today, he flew down and hovered for a good 5 minutes about 2 feet away from us. Couldn’t grab a good photograph but a very beautiful moment.

New Posters!
Just rushed out 2 posters for some big events this coming weekend: the LAST Bear Garden and a People Under the Stairs Concert. Despite the time constraint, I am very happy with how both turned out.

Everyone loves free honey and food.

At some point during the hazy hours of vectoring more and more little bears, my mind strayed and created this monster. Every time I look at it I laugh to myself.

Thes One and Double K under some stairs. Decided to get very literal with this poster!
Concert posters are always the most fun, especially when there’s much creative freedom. But I’m sad to say, after 3 years of good times, these might be my last two posters for UCSD…
It’s okay though. See you at Bear Garden!

Some of the promotional items for the Sun God Festival, a 15-page festival guide and mix CD with music from all the artists who performed.

SGF09 Snapshots
UCSD’s Sun God Festival for 2009 has stormed through campus and quietly left. Congratulations to everyone who helped make this beautiful event come to life. SomeĀ quick shots of the festivities:

The gigantic Dance Tent, featuring Girl Talk as the final performer. I did not make it through the crowd to the front, where I heard it was phenomenal.

At 9 AM, a line that spanned 1 mileĀ through 4 separate colleges. Ridiculous…

Sun God Avenue, filled with food, laughter, and a lot of lights.

And the finale with N.E.R.D. I had the pleasure of meeting Pharrell afterwards along with a few other student artists to discuss his exciting artist and musician networking site, http://artst.com. Check it out if you’re a creative looking to share your work or just be inspired.
A great end to a great day, but WHY didn’t I take a picture of Pharrell???? Sigh…
Sun God Shirts On the Market
For all UCSD persons, Sun God Festival merch is officially up for grabs! Find them at the Sun God Boutique next to Jamba Juice. 9 hot shirt designs plus pint glasses, water bottles, free CDs and more. More in-depth pics to be posted later…

Design: Bear Garden Spring
The newest Bear Garden poster has been added to my portfolio. This time around, I wanted to capture the birth of the new season through the expressions and movement of the bears. At the same time I wanted to create an intense sense of desire for the “honey”. I mainly worked off of vector pieces from the first event poster, with obvious technical improvements (notice the flowers). Once again, the even was canceled a day before due to a forecast of rain. And once again…it did not rain. Let’s hope the next and final festival goes through.

Great Game

High five BG and Ray Allen but man… I did not notice the shocking speed/quickness/coolness of Derrick Rose ’til these playoffs. There were a couple plays where my eyes seriously could not keep up. Have you guys seen a really excited hamster on the running wheel?
